De-stress by wanting less

The Western lifestyle is fast-paced and hectic because we work a lot so that we can afford the things we want to buy.  What would your life be like if you worked less and owned less stuff?  What would you do with that extra time?  Would you rest more, spend more time with your children, eat healthier, exercise more, or maybe walk through your neighborhood everyday?

Media can lead us to believe that we need more stuff in order to improve our lifestyle, but many people are learning that the opposite is true.  What if you lived closer to where you work? How much stress does a long commute bring into your life?

The taoist philosophy is to be content with what you have.   And being grateful for what you already have reduces your desire for more stuff and reduces the stress that comes along with that desire.   A simple change in philosophy about lifestyle can drastically change our health and our outlook for the future.
