Chinese Massage (Tui Na)'Tui' means push, and 'Na' means pinch. It is massage, but with a wide therapeutic benefit because it also incorporates what the West considers chiropractic and physiotherapy techniques. It is not only to relax the muscles and affect the tendons or ligaments, but also to treat internal disease and to treat dislocations or sprains. A Tui Na practitioner is aware of where the acupuncture meridians flow and which points affects the function of certain body systems. It is common for Chinese people to do Tui Na to themselves to preserve their health. Chinese school children do Tui Na together in class several times a day to protect the eyes and relax the Mind. Tui Na is typically done with clothing on, although some direct contact friction techniques are used to generate heat in order to improve blood circulation.
